something fun

I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins with my kids (which works like: I play the game, they help pick dialogue options and which quests to do and get super excited whenever there are monsters to fight) and it's fun. They're really attached to Alastair and they always want to bring the dog with us. We're trapped in the Fade right now and I remember this being my least favorite part the first time I played but they're really into it and whenever we stop playing they immediately start running around and pretending to change into spirit/golem/etc while they play-fight.

Hah, I love it! (I actually hadn't heard the joke before--I was never really in DA fandom spaces). 6yo named the dog Ichessa (and named our city elf Valo).

Oh, this is sweet! Lovely way to spend time with them. (I often sit by and half-observe while my partner plays Zelda games, but my contributions are limited to "ooh, pretty" and "hey, could you climb up that ladder?" and similar.)

I really like co-oping a single player game like that - my dad and I played Deus Ex: Human Revolution together, so he handled all the dialogue and minigames, then would tell me whether I should sneak or go in guns blazing for all the combat parts haha

4yo and 7yo tend to pick whichever dialogue option will get us out of the conversation and back to fighting the fastest, so overall our playthrough has been a bit streamlined. Today we fought the broodmother and 7yo's verdict was "that was a really cool and fun monster!" (we're playing on easy mode though)
