I used this: https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools with books that could be checked out in kindle format, and it may be helped by the fact that I own a somewhat old kindle.
I was originally just trying to convert kindle books I owned to something I could print, and figuring out it worked with library books was a bonus, so I haven't tried anything with non kindle format library books yet.
