tbh, I'm not sure mastodon is for me. It feels like twitter, but with new social norms, which is maybe more time than I want to put into social media at the moment. Re. the server stuff being confusing--right now it seems like it's either going to not matter at all (theoretically this is correct), or turn out to be very important down the line (because fandom is fandom and people have drawn lines in the sand over sillier things).
